Cytomegalovirus

CMV is considered one of the most underestimated of any infectious disease. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the US National Academy of Sciences has estimated the cost of treating the consequences of CMV infection in the United States at more than $4 billion per year and placed a CMV vaccine in its first priority category on the basis of cost-effectiveness. Thereby CMV ranges in importance in the same order as a general influenza vaccine, group B streptococcus vaccine and a Streptococcus pneumoniae vaccine, but ranging above vaccines for micro-organisms such as Chlamidia, Herpes simplex, Human Papilloma virus and Para-influenza.

CMV triple-antigen
MUbio’s combined antigen is synthetic protein including most immunogenic antigens/proteins known to be present in human CMV (HCMV). The combination of these selected antigens in one novel combined antigen secures a unique potential in vaccine development as well as in diagnostic assays. The antigen is currently evaluated in preclinical and clinical studies.
